This “Delicious Epic Falafel Burger” is a showstopper centerpiece whatever the occasion. Richly flavored, it satisfies vegans and non-vegans alike! Made with simple ingredients, this vegetarian Plant Based recipe is easy to make.
If you’re like me and always feel short on time and don’t want to babysit something for hours, this is a great easy vegan recipe for you:

INGREDIENTS:

For the falafel patties:

  • 3 cups of chickpeas, cooked and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup parsley
  • 1/2 medium red onion
  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • 1 small serrano pepper (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chickpea flour
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs or all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • 1 tsp cumin and ground coriander each
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice + just a tiny bit of lemon zest
  • Salt to taste

Toppings:

  • Creamy tahini lemon dill dressing
  • Pickled red onions
  • Couscous tomato parsley salad
  • Red cabbage
  • Lettuce
  • Vegan Feta cheese
  • Hummus

Served on a toasted sesame bun

DIRECTIONS:

Add chopped red onion, garlic, serrano pepper and parsley to a food processor and pulse until broken down. Add chickpeas, spices, baking soda, lemon juice and zest, and pulse again until combined. Mixture shouldn’t be all the way smooth. Season to taste with salt.

Stir in sesame seeds, chickpea and all-purpose flour or breadcrumbs, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Use a 1/2 cup measuring tool to divide chickpea mix into 4 large patties (you could also make 6 medium sized, or 8 mini patties), and pan fry them in a cast iron skillet from both sides for about 5 minutes with a little bit of oil. The skillet should be hot (low medium heat) but not too hot so your patties won’t burn!

Serve on desired bun or in a pita pocket and with lots of toppings, and enjoy!
